TOUR C256 - FLIGHTSEEING BY SEAPLANE
| Duration: Approx. 50 mins Flight | Price Range: TBC |
Following a short transfer by car to the landing stage at Sandviken, you will have a unique opportunity to experience a ‘flight of a lifetime’ in a Cessna 206 seaplane. After take-off we will circle over the city of Bergen and marvel at the bird’s-eye view of this former medieval capital, before passing over Bjøernefjord, a popular area south of the town where many locals have their summer homes. During our 50-minute flight, we will pass over both mountains and sea and the surrounding Hardangerfjord - the ‘Queen of the Fjords’ - considered by many to be the loveliest in Norway. Along the fjord on both sides small, fruit-farming communities are scattered, and this area is a wonderful sight in spring when all the fruit trees are in blossom, with the snowcapped mountains in the background. Weather permitting, we will fly over the mighty Folgefonna, the third largest glacier in Norway, and the summer ski-centre before we continue our flightseeing along the fjord, crossing over snow-dotted mountains. Passing over the Fyksesund Bridge, we turn northwards and follow the narrow fjord on to Botn, a small hamlet with a few farms. Here the boat is still the only way to communicate with the rest of the world, as there is no proper road. As we approach Bergen at the end of our exhilarating flight, we can admire our ship docked in the harbour before landing safely. By seaplane, subject to a minimum of 4/maximum of 12. Please note: The seaplane can seat four passengers plus the pilot, and there will be several departures, the times of which will be advised on board. It is not considered suitable for passengers with wheelchairs or those with walking difficulties. This tour is subject to safe flying weather conditions and can be cancelled at short notice at the pilot’s discretion. Guides are not included in the tour; however, the pilot speaks English and will point out highlights during the flight. Some of the sights on this itinerary will also be seen on Tour C212 Glaciers & Waterfalls by Seaplane operated during the call at Eidfjord Sunday 20th May. |
