The first leg of your
cruise en-route to Lisbon will give you the chance
to acquaint yourselves with the ship’s many facilities
and to meet new friends and get to know some of
your fellow passengers.

LISBON (Portugal)

Portugal's capital Lisbon
is a large sprawling city with many reminders of
its colourful history peopled by Visigoths, Moors,
Romans, Phoenicians, Carthaginians and even a few
warring Celts. Alfama and Barrio Alto are its charming
historic districts full of narrow cobbled streets,
Moorish buildings and wrought-iron balconies trailing
pretty flowers.

FUNCHAL (Madeira, Portugal)
Day 6 Arr
0800hrs Dep 1700hrs, stay 9hrs.
Madeira is the ‘Garden Isle’ of Portugal,
set 500 miles off its southern coast,
where amongst other more natural
attractions, a ride down a cobbled
mountain track in a wicker sledge
beckons! Steep wooded slopes adorned
with white painted houses and a myriad
of tropical flowers create the perfect
setting.

Day 7 (Day 7-12 cruising at sea)
Sit back, relax and
enjoy the ship’s many amenities as we head south
across the Atlantic in search of tropical sunshine.
BRIDGETOWN (Barbados)
Day 13 Arrive at 2000hrs for overnight in port
Glorious golden beaches and
towering palms with names like Paradise Beach and
Silver Sands, crystal clear turquoise waters and
beautifully landscaped gardens and such a distinctively
British atmosphere that you’ll even find a Trafalgar
Square with a statue of Nelson. Barbados is a splendid
introduction to the Caribbean with an overnight
and full day to explore this idyllic tropical island.
BRIDGETOWN (Barbados)

ST. GEORGE'S (Grenada)
Day 15 Arr 0800hrs Dep 2200hrs, stay 14hrs.
Our next port of call is the
pretty port of George’s, the administrative centre
and capital of Grenada, the famed 'Spice Island'.
Lush tropical rainforests, spectacular mountainous
scenery, vanilla plantations and the wonderful
fragrance and aroma of the island’s spices of nutmeg
and cinnamon combine to provide a real treasure
trove just waiting to be explored. The horseshoe
shaped harbour is surrounded by terraced hill slopes
with steep cobbled streets, quaint buildings and
alleyways leading to the bustling marketplace,
home to a plethora of spice traders. A walk to
the hillside fort provides a marvellous panorama
of the town or what about taking a water taxi to
the beautiful Grand Anse beach.
MAYREAU (Grenadines)
Day 16 Arr 0700hrs Dep 2000hrs, stay 13hrs.
Mayreau is a secluded idyllic
tropical island situated in the Grenadines and
just one and quarter square miles. Home of pristine
beaches and sparkling clear waters, Mayreau plays
host to a sumptuous beach barbecue courtesy of
the ship’s master chefs and team from the galley.
With half and full day optional catermaran excursion
opportunities to the stunning Tobago Cays guarded
by spectacular coral reefs and also Union and Palm
Islands, our visit to Mayreau will be an unforgettable
Christmas Eve experience to savour.
KINGSTOWN (St. Vincent)

Kingstown is the bustling
capital and main administrative centre of the island
with bustling markets, wonderful Botanical Gardens
and historic Fort George. The mountainous interior
offers glorious scenery and is dominated by the
volcano Soufriere
PORT ELIZABETH (Bequia,
Grenadines)

Idyllic Port Elizabeth boasts an enchanting
waterfront of a handful of shops,
bars and restaurants overlooking
the serene Admiralty Bay which is
set against a backdrop of densely
forested hills. There are also some
excellent beaches close to hand and
they can also be reached by taking
a water taxi.

famous Pitons between 0500-0530hrs on 26 Dec.
CASTRIES (St. Lucia, Windward Isles)

The mountainous island of St Lucia with
it’s distinctive Pitons provides
a splendid backdrop to the thriving
capital, Castries. Enjoy the vibrant
Creole atmosphere and hustle and
bustle of this colourful town or
venture further afield to explore
this most scenic of Caribbean Islands.
CHARLESTOWN (St. Nevis, Leeward Isles)

Charlestown is a charming little town
steeped in history with a famous
collection of Nelson memorabilia – Lord
Horatio Nelson was actually married
on Nevis. Wander around the little
streets and admire the Caribbean
pace of life along with the local
art galleries and craft shops.
BASSETERRE (St. Kitts, Leeward Isles)
Day 19 Arr
1400hrs Dep 2000hrs, stay 6hrs.
Although the larger sister of Nevis, St
Kitts also provides a tranquil afternoon
setting and the chance to soak up
that wonderful Caribbean ambience.
Basseterre, the main administrative
centre is home to an impressive cathedral
and close to Brimstone Hill Fortress,
known as ‘The Gibraltar of the West
Indies’ The views from the fort are
breathtaking so make sure you take
your camera.
ROAD TOWN (Tortola, British Virgin Islands)

Road Town meaning ‘Turtle Dove’ is the
capital of Tortola and is the largest
of this stunning archipelago of over
50 beach-fringed islands and cays,
with names evoking a buccaneering
past where these waters were once
a favourite haunt of pirates. Glorious
beaches and wonderful vistas await
or perhaps a visit to Apple Bay's
Sugar Mill at Pusser's Company Store
where you can try the local rum drinks.
GUSTAVIA (St. Barts, Leeward Isles)
Day 21 Arr
0600hrs Dep 1230hrs, stay 6.5hrs.
Built around a natural harbour from where
Athena will anchor, the French chic
town of Gustavia with it’s brightly
painted houses reveals the style
and sophistication of this tidy and
peaceful little island. Stroll around
the town and harbour brimming with
glittering yachts or visit one of
the islands many superb beaches.
PHILLIPSBURG (St. Maarten, Dutch Antilles)

1430hrs Dep 2000hrs, stay 5.5hrs.
During the afternoon we set sail for the
short crossing to the island of St
Maarten. The island is actually split
in two – the Dutch south and the
French north making for a fascinating
mix of European culture and Caribbean
hospitality. Phillipsburg is a shoppers’ paradise
so come prepared!
ST. JOHNS (Antigua, Leeward Isles)

The mountainous island of Antigua is virtually
surrounded by a coral reef with fantastic
scenery, splendid powder white sandy
beaches, 365 to be precise, warm
azure seas and excellent snorkelling
opportunities. St John’s is the thriving
main town of the island.

PONTA DELGADA (Azores,
Portugal)

The Archipelago of the Azores consists
of nine volcanic islands situated
in the middle of the North Atlantic,
some 932 miles from the European
coast and 2423 miles from North America.
The largest is Sao Miguel, with its
principal port city of Ponta Delgada.
Magnificent architecture, 16th and
17th century artwork, and an array
of fine churches are among the highlights
of this pretty and very friendly
island.
