HERAKLION (Crete, Greece)

Heraklion is the capital and main port
of Crete and just 3 miles away from
the ancient ruins of the Palace of
Knossos discovered in 1899 by archaeologist,
Sir Arthur Evans and believed to
be the mythical labyrinth of King
Minos and the seat of ancient Minoan
culture.
AT SEA
Day 3 Cruising at sea
PORT SAID (for Cairo, Egypt)
Day 4 Arr
0600hrs Dep 2330hrs, stay 16.5hrs.
Port Said is the main port at the start
of the journey into the Red Sea and
also a convenient point from which
to join the optional – but highly
recommended excursions to the city
of Cairo and the wondrous sights
of the Sphinx and Pyramids of Giza.
You should certainly visit the Egyptian
Museum, for the greatest collection
of antiquities anywhere in the world,
including the treasures of Tutankhamun.
SUEZ CANAL (Transit)
Day 5 Arr 0100hrs Dep 1800hrs, stay hrs.
More than 50 ships transit
the Suez Canal every day and Funchal will be among
them today. Inaugurated in 1869, the Canal took
more than 10 years to build and involved the labour
of some 20,000 men, many of them forced into working
in near slave-labour conditions. Now one of the
world’s most important waterways, it is a staggering
101 miles long and can take ships up to 50 feet
in draft.
AT SEA
Day 7 to 14 at sea
Sit back and relax
for our week long leisurely voyage across the Red
Sea and Arabian Sea en-route to the tropical Maldive
Islands.
MALE (Maldives)
Day 15 Arr 0800hrs Dep 2000hrs, stay 12hrs.
Following our week long passage
from Safaga its ‘land ahoy’ again for a full day
visit to Male the main administrative centre and
capital of the remote tropical island paradise
of the Maldive Islands, a unique collection of
low-lying coral atolls strewn across the Indian
Ocean. Visit the National Museum with its ancient
stone carvings; Islamic Centre, Grand Friday Mosque
or what about a swim in the azure blue waters of
the Indian Ocean and more relaxation at one of
the local beaches.
AT SEA
Day 16 to 19 cruising at sea
More time for relaxing and leisurely days at sea perhaps to take advantage
of the sun decks as we pass Great Nicobar Island on the 9th December steaming
en route to Phuket in Thailand, our next port of call.
PHUKET (Thailand)
Day 20 Arr 0700hrs Dep 1800hrs, stay 11hrs.
The fabulous island resort
of Phuket is another oriental gem with beautiful
beaches, excellent shopping, elephant rides and
sightseeing opportunities including a visit to
Phang Nga Bay, famous for it’s unique limestone
islands that tower above the calm waters. A full
day stay in Phuket provides the opportunity to
sample and savour all the sites and sights from
the popular Patong beach with its open air bars
to the quieter areas of Kata and the bustling old
charm of Kamala.
LANGKAWI (Malaysia)
Day 21 Arr 0700hrs Dep 1300hrs, stay 6hrs.
Langkawi is located at the
northern part of the Malaysian peninsula where
the Straits of Malacca meet the Indian Ocean. The
mountainous island resort of Langkawi with its
limestone outcrops and vivid green vegetation contrasts
beautifully with the pristine beaches and wonderful
azure waters of the ocean. Perhaps take a ride
on the largest span cable car in Asia or simply
relax on one of the superb beaches.
PORT KLANG for Kuala Lumpar, Malaysia)
Day 22 Arr

As a diversion to the wonderful tropical
beach resorts of Phuket and Langkawi,
take our optional excursion to Kuala
Lumpar, capital of Malaysia and discover
a bustling metropolis that uniquely
blends the traditional and modern.
Enjoy exceptional shopping and a
host of attractions including the
Petronas Twin Towers, the tallest
in the world.
SINGAPORE
Day 23 Arr 0930hrs Dep 2100hrs, stay 11.5hrs.
Steeped in its colonial past,
Singapore, The Lion City of Sir Stamford Raffles
is a major thoroughfare of the East and has absorbed
something from every culture that has passed through
this tiny, busy island. From the world famous Raffles
Hotel – the perfect place to enjoy a Singapore
Sling – to the excellent Botanical gardens, from
the teeming streets of Chinatown to the exotic
art of Hindu temples. There is so much see in Singapore,
one of the most exciting cities in the East!
AT SEA
Day 24 to 29 cruising at sea
Five final days at
sea as we head south towards Western Australia.
On the morning of 14th December get ready for some
traditional shipboard fun and games with the Crossing
The Line ceremony as we pass across the Equator.
